At just 15 years old, Nevaeh is facing leukemia for the fourth time—and her family is refusing to let hope disappear. 🙏

Nevaeh has been fighting for approximately a year and a half. Her journey has included chemotherapy, countless blood and platelet transfusions, serious infections, and a bone marrow transplant from her own brother.

When doctors in New York told her mother, Angie, that there were no more curative treatment options available, the family faced a devastating decision: go home and spend whatever time remained together.

But Angie kept searching.

Eventually, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston agreed to treat Nevaeh, giving the teenager another opportunity to fight. ❤️‍🩹

After beginning a new targeted oral treatment, the family waited anxiously for the first bone marrow biopsy.

The preliminary results were difficult.

Nevaeh’s marrow was still showing approximately 75% leukemia, down from 96% when she started treatment.

For Angie, the decrease was proof that the treatment had made some progress—but it was nowhere near the result she had hoped to see.

“I cried. I really thought it was going to be better,” she shared.

What made the news even harder was that Nevaeh had started looking and feeling better. She was eating, laughing, talking, and appearing more like herself again. But the biopsy revealed that a significant amount of the illness remained beneath the surface.

Now, doctors are moving forward with Cycle 2.

They have explained that targeted medications can sometimes take longer to reach their full effect. Because Nevaeh showed a response during the first cycle, her medical team believes it is worth giving the treatment more time.

The family is now praying that the drop from 96% to 75% is only the beginning. 🌟

If the treatment does not bring the response they need, Angie knows they may have to search for another option.

And while she fights beside her daughter in Texas, another heartbreaking reality weighs heavily on her.

Angie has five other children back home in New York. She says she has only been able to return home once since July 8.

“I wish I could somehow split myself in half,” she said. “One version of me in Texas beside Nevaeh. And one version of me at home with my other children.”

It is the impossible position of a mother trying to be everywhere her children need her.

For now, Nevaeh continues forward.
