💔🕊️ He Beat Cancer at 3 — Five Years Later, 9-Year-Old Bubba Is Facing It Again
Imagine hearing that your 3-year-old child has overcome a serious illness, watching him grow for five beautiful years, and believing the hardest chapter is finally behind your family.
Then, one day, everything changes.
That is the heartbreaking reality facing 9-year-old Johnathan, affectionately known by his family as “Bubba.” 💙
Bubba’s journey began when he was just 3 years old. He underwent a grueling 12-hour brain surgery and spent nearly a month in a Texas hospital, working to relearn how to walk and talk. After that came weeks of daily radiation.
Then came the words his family had prayed desperately to hear:
“Cancer free.” 🙏
For the next five years, Bubba was able to experience the simple joys of childhood.
He played soccer. ⚽
He laughed with his family.
He grew into an incredible big brother to his younger brother and sister.
He celebrated birthdays and made memories.
For five precious years, he simply got to be a kid.
Then Bubba began complaining about back pain.
His parents never imagined that those complaints would eventually lead them back to an oncology office.
Doctors discovered that his original brain tumor had returned. Even more heartbreaking, the illness had also reached his spine.
The family was presented with a difficult treatment path involving multiple surgeries followed by radiation to the brain and spine. They were also told that the chances of preventing another recurrence were below 50 percent.
Faced with those difficult odds, Sarah and Taylor decided to pursue another treatment approach they hope can give their son the best possible chance at more time and a brighter future.
There has already been a small but meaningful sign of encouragement.
According to his family, the medication has significantly reduced Bubba’s pain. 💙
His mother continues to hold тιԍнтly to her faith and hope.
“I am claiming in Jesus’ name that the medicine will work and we will begin to see tumor shrinkage,” she shared.
She also believes that, whatever the future brings, Bubba’s journey will one day become part of his testimony.
For his family, those five years of wellness now feel more precious than ever.
Five years of soccer games.
Five years of birthday candles.
Five years of watching their little boy grow.
Now, they are praying for many more. 🕊️
The family is asking for prayers for Bubba, for his treatment to bring positive results, and for strength and wisdom for Sarah and Taylor.
They are also asking people to pray for Bubba’s younger siblings, who simply want more years with the big brother they love and look up to.
Please keep this brave little boy and his family in your thoughts and prayers. 🙏💙
