🕊️💔 Two Young Siblings Remembered After Tragic Boating Accident During Family Outing In New Jersey
What began as a relaxing summer evening on the water ended in unimaginable heartbreak for a New Jersey family after two young siblings lost their lives in a boating accident.
Nine-year-old Mya Golabek and her seven-year-old brother, Sigmund “Siggy” Golabek, were spending time with their grandparents on Sunday evening in the Berkeley Township Bay area.
According to the New Jersey State Police, the children were pᴀssengers aboard a 30-foot Tidewater Custom 280 operated by their grandfather, Steven Schneider, 63.
Investigators say the vessel was traveling along the Intracoastal Waterway shortly after 9 p.m.
At approximately 9:09 p.m., the outing took a devastating turn when the boat reportedly collided with a channel marker.
Authorities say the impact caused both children to enter the water.
In the critical moments that followed, their grandparents immediately worked to bring Mya and Siggy back aboard the boat while emergency responders rushed to ᴀssist.
The siblings were transported to a nearby hospital, where medical teams did everything they could.
Sadly, both children were later pronounced deceased.
The New Jersey State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, and officials have not yet announced what factors may have contributed to the collision.
According to Jersey Shore Online, the family had reportedly spent time together earlier that evening before heading out onto the water for what was meant to be a peaceful family outing.
For Mya and Siggy’s parents, the events of that evening changed everything in a matter of moments.
Instead of bringing home cherished memories from a summer adventure, they are now left remembering two children whose lives brought endless love, laughter, and happiness to everyone around them.
Friends and relatives describe Mya and Siggy as joyful, caring siblings who shared a close bond and brightened every room they entered.
Their obituaries reflect not only the heartbreaking loss of two young lives but also the beautiful memories they created during the short time they were here.
As investigators continue searching for answers, the community has rallied around the Golabek family with messages of support, prayers, and heartfelt condolences.
🕊️ May Mya and Siggy always be remembered for the joy they shared, the love they gave, and the precious memories they leave behind.
