The investigation into the d*ath of 18-year-old Nolan Wells has continued to generate intense public attention, prompting Jackson County Chancery Court Judge Ashlee Cole to publicly address the growing threats and accusations directed at her family. In a detailed statement, Judge Cole defended her son, Warren Cole, and emphasized that he has fully cooperated with investigators since the beginning of the case.
According to Judge Cole, her family has faced significant online harᴀssment and cyber threats as speculation surrounding the Horn Island tragedy has spread across social media. She said the situation became so serious that family members were forced to step back from media appearances out of concern for their safety, while continuing to cooperate with law enforcement behind the scenes.
Judge Cole also sought to clarify misinformation surrounding her family’s involvement, stating that neither she nor other members of her family were present on Horn Island, Mississippi, during the July 4 holiday weekend when Nolan disappeared. She confirmed that Warren voluntarily spoke with investigators and provided all information requested as detectives worked to reconstruct the timeline of events.
In her statement, Judge Cole expressed sympathy for Nolan’s family and reiterated that her family remains willing to communicate directly with Nolan’s parents or with civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who has been representing the Wells family. She said her hope is that the public’s attention can return to supporting Nolan’s loved ones rather than targeting individuals through online speculation.
Nolan Wells disappeared during a boating trip to Horn Island on July 4, 2025, prompting a large-scale search involving multiple local, state, and federal agencies.
