Little boy who lost both feet as a baby looks ahead to new adventures with updated prosthetic legs

Three-year-old Kaleb Phillips is back home after another important surgery, taking another step toward an active future filled with new possibilities.
The young boy from Cullman, Alabama, recently underwent surgery at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. During the procedure, surgeons reshaped the ends of his legs to prepare him for a new set of prosthetic legs as he continues to grow.
Although the recovery will take time, Kaleb’s family says his determination has never wavered.

Kaleb was born with Feingold syndrome, a rare genetic condition that can affect the development of the limbs and other parts of the body.
His mother, Juliane, explained that he was born with one toe on one foot and only a small residual limb on the other. When he was just eight months old, doctors recommended amputating both feet to give him the best opportunity for improved mobility and independence as he grew.
Since then, Kaleb has embraced life with remarkable enthusiasm, learning to walk, run, and play using prosthetic legs.

“He’s such an active little boy,” Juliane said. “He loves to run, play, and do everything other kids do.”
As Kaleb grew, however, his prosthetics became increasingly uncomfortable, and doctors recommended another surgery to better prepare his legs for the next stage of treatment.
While the recovery means he will likely miss this year’s T-ball season, his parents, Josh and Juliane, say he is already looking forward to getting back on his feet.
“He understands he has to be patient,” his mother shared. “But Kaleb always finds a reason to smile.”
Friends, relatives, and members of the local community have continued to support the family throughout every stage of Kaleb’s journey, celebrating his resilience and positive atтιтude.
Despite facing more surgeries and medical appointments than most children ever experience, Kaleb continues to meet every challenge with courage, optimism, and an infectious smile.
His family believes this latest operation is not an ending, but the beginning of another exciting chapter—one that includes sports, outdoor adventures, and the freedom that comes with his new prosthetic legs.
For Kaleb, the future is filled with opportunity, and those who know him best believe there is no limit to what this remarkable little boy can achieve.
