“Bungee Instructors Booked for Homicide After Student Thrown 130 Feet Without a Safety Rope”!hl

Three instructors have been arrested and charged in connection with the death of 21-year-old Brazilian student Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, who was allegedly launched from a 40-meter (130-foot) bridge without being attached to the required safety rope during a rope-jumping stunt in São Paulo state, Brazil. Authorities have charged the men with a form of homicide that applies when individuals knowingly engage in conduct carrying a serious risk of death.
Investigators say video footage shows Maria being lifted and thrown from the bridge while the safety rope remained unattached. Witnesses reportedly shouted warnings moments too late. Police stated that the instructors later admitted she had not been connected to the rope but claimed they could not remember who was responsible for the final safety check.

The tragedy occurred at the abandoned Ponte do Esqueleto (Skeleton Bridge) in the municipality of Limeira. Authorities are also investigating allegations that the operation lacked proper authorization and safety oversight.
Adding to the heartbreak, an off-duty nurse who rushed to the scene said Maria was still alive when rescuers first reached her and attempted emergency aid.
The case has sparked outrage across Brazil, with many pointing to what experts describe as severe safety failures and negligence in an activity where strict procedures are considered essential.
