New Witness Testimony and Missing Body Camera Raise Fresh Doubts in Horrific Bungee Jump Death of 21-Year-Old Woman

A dramatic new witness account is casting serious new light — and raising even more troubling questions — in the tragic death of 21-year-old Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas during a bungee jump in Limeira, São Paulo, Brazil.
According to the latest reports on June 15, 2026, pedagogical coordinator Rafael Goulard, who was waiting in line to take his own jump, came forward with a shocking eyewitness description. He claims he saw one of the workers deliberately approach Maria Eduarda’s body on the ground moments after her fatal fall and remove a GoPro action camera that was strapped to her neck and body.

The young woman had reportedly been launched from a platform nearly 40 meters high without any safety rope attached. She fell freely to the ground below and died at the scene despite efforts to resuscitate her.
The missing camera is now at the center of the investigation. Maria Eduarda had worn the action camera specifically to record her entire bungee jump experience. However, police have not been able to recover the device. When questioned, workers at the site claimed they had no idea where the camera was, and searches of the surrounding area turned up nothing.

Rafael Goulard described the atmosphere after the accident as deeply unsettling. He said the staff appeared to be in a “catatonic state,” showing almost no emotion or concern for what had just happened. They reportedly did not speak to any of the waiting customers and seemed more focused on damage control than on the victim.
“They were in a catatonic state. I don’t know if they didn’t understand what they had done or if they were trying to hide or escape,” Goulard told local media.
Another witness supported these claims, reporting that shortly after the fall, employees were seen hurriedly moving equipment into a vehicle and changing their clothes. Goulard even informed a police officer about the clothing change, after which the officer reportedly ordered the workers not to leave the scene.

The incident occurred at the Skeleton Bridge trail. According to the police report, when military police arrived, a nurse was already attempting to save Maria Eduarda. Two men identifying themselves as company employees were near the victim. They initially handed over their identification documents but fled into a wooded area when an officer stepped away briefly to ᴀssist with the rescue.
A separate video provided by a witness clearly shows three individuals believed to be from the bungee jump company lifting Maria Eduarda and throwing her from the bridge. The footage reveals no safety rope or harness was attached. Bystanders can be heard screaming in shock as they realized the terrible mistake unfolding before their eyes.
Three men have been arrested and placed in preventive detention on charges of homicide with eventual intent (meaning they did not necessarily plan to kill but knowingly accepted the risk of death). They are identified as Luis Felipe Feliciano Egoroff, Vitor De Freitas Gonçalves, and Maicon Fernandes Cintra. The companies linked to the activity reportedly used shirts branded “Entre Cordas” and “Ih Voei.”

The defense claims the suspects were in a state of shock and that this was the first such incident in their operation. However, witnesses and authorities continue to question whether negligence, rushed procedures, or possible attempts to destroy or hide evidence — particularly the missing body camera — played a role in the tragedy.
As the investigation proceeds, the disappearance of Maria Eduarda’s camera remains one of the most disturbing elements. Many are now asking whether the device contained footage that could prove critical in determining exactly what went wrong in those final moments.
This heartbreaking case has shocked the local community and raised broader concerns about safety standards at adventure tourism sites across Brazil. Maria Eduarda’s death has left her family devastated, and the public is demanding full transparency and justice as new details continue to emerge.
