A Colorado town has officially named a road “Kendrick Castillo Way” in honor of the bravery displayed by Kendrick Castillo, an 18-year-old high school senior who sacrificed his life to protect his classmates during a shooting at STEM School Highlands Ranch in 2019.

On May 7, 2019, a gunman opened fire inside the school. Kendrick, a student in the classroom, immediately charged at the attacker, helping to subdue him long enough for others to escape. Tragically, Kendrick was shot and killed in the process, but his selfless act undoubtedly saved lives that day.
