“Dinosaurs Lived with Humans” – New Fossil Evidence Makes Creationists Celebrate? Science Says No

Sensational claims that new fossil evidence proves dinosaurs and humans coexisted are false and have been repeatedly debunked. No credible scientific discovery supports the idea that non-avian dinosaurs and humans lived at the same time.

All non-avian dinosaurs went extinct 66 million years ago at the end of the Cretaceous Period. Anatomically modern humans (Homo sapiens) appeared in Africa only around 300,000 years ago — a gap of more than 65 million years. The fossil record shows a clear chronological separation: dinosaur bones are found in Mesozoic rocks, while human remains and artifacts appear only in much younger Quaternary deposits.

Creationist claims usually rely on misidentified fossils, hoaxes, or misrepresented evidence. Famous examples include the Paluxy River “human footprints” in Texas (actually eroded dinosaur tracks), the “London Hammer” (a 19th-century tool encased in concretion, not ancient rock), and various “dinosaur and human” cave paintings that are either modern forgeries or misinterpretations.

Any supposed “new fossil evidence” promoted online is almost always either:

  • A misidentified bone or track,
  • A hoax,
  • Or a deliberate distortion of legitimate research.

No peer-reviewed study in a reputable journal has ever concluded that dinosaurs and humans overlapped in time. Radiometric dating, biostratigraphy, and molecular clocks all consistently place dinosaurs in the Mesozoic and humans in the very recent past.

From the Hell Creek Formation to African fossil sites, the evidence remains crystal clear: dinosaurs ruled the Earth for 165 million years and vanished long before the first humans appeared. Claims of coexistence are not supported by science — only by wishful thinking.
