Pope Leo XIV: “Keep the Beautiful Witness of Corpus Christi Processions Alive”!lh

VATICAN CITY — Pope Leo XIV has encouraged Catholics around the world to preserve and promote the tradition of Corpus Christi processions, describing them as a powerful public witness to faith in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

Speaking ahead of the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Pope reflected on the centuries-old custom of carrying the Blessed Sacrament through streets, towns, and cities. He said these processions are more than religious ceremonies; they are visible expressions of the Church’s belief that Christ walks with His people and remains at the heart of Christian life.
“Keep the beautiful witness of Corpus Christi processions alive,” Pope Leo urged. He noted that such gatherings offer an opportunity for believers to proclaim their faith publicly while inviting others to reflect on the mystery of God’s presence among humanity.

The pontiff emphasized that the Eucharist is the source and summit of the Church’s life, nourishing believers and strengthening them for service, charity, and evangelization. He encouraged parishes and communities to prepare for Corpus Christi celebrations with prayer, reverence, and a renewed appreciation for the sacrament.
Pope Leo also highlighted the communal dimension of the processions, explaining that they bring together people of different ages and backgrounds in a shared act of worship. In a society often marked by isolation and division, he said, these public expressions of faith can become signs of unity and hope.

The Pope concluded by inviting Catholics to deepen their devotion to the Eucharist not only during special feasts but throughout the year. By participating in processions, Eucharistic adoration, and regular Mᴀss attendance, he said, believers can strengthen their relationship with Christ and bear witness to the Gospel in the world.
His message was welcomed by many faithful as a reaffirmation of one of the Church’s most cherished traditions—a reminder that the Eucharist remains at the center of Catholic faith and a source of grace for every generation.
