🚨💔 Father’s Six-Year Pursuit of Justice Leads to Conviction in the Case of Teen NeKeisha Hodges-Hawkins

The determination of one father helped keep his daughter’s case in the public eye for years, ultimately contributing to a conviction that brought a measure of justice to a grieving family.

On July 24, 2011, just days before her 18th birthday, NeKeisha “Keisha” Hodges-Hawkins attended a birthday gathering at Krueger Memorial Park in Michigan City, Indiana. According to investigators, the event drew more than 150 people before a confrontation escalated and gunfire erupted, sending attendees fleeing in multiple directions.

During the chaos, Keisha sustained a fatal gunsH๏τ wound. Despite the large number of people present, investigators initially received very little information from witnesses, making the case especially difficult to solve.

As months turned into years, Keisha’s father, Kalvon Hawkins, refused to let the investigation fade from public attention.

He organized community rallies, shared his daughter’s story through social media, encouraged anyone with information to come forward, and continuously urged authorities and the public to help uncover the truth. His persistence kept Keisha’s name in the spotlight and maintained pressure for new investigative leads.

According to court records, renewed information eventually helped investigators identify Charles Gerron as a suspect.

In 2016, Gerron was arrested in connection with the case. The following year, after a trial, a jury found him guilty of Keisha’s murder. He was subsequently sentenced to 50 years in prison.

Following the verdict, Kalvon Hawkins said the conviction represented the justice he had spent six years pursuing on behalf of his daughter.

Keisha’s mother, Janice Hodges-Hawkins, also expressed graтιтude that accountability had finally been achieved while acknowledging that no court decision could erase the family’s loss or replace the daughter they loved.

The case has since become a powerful example of how persistence, community awareness, and continued investigative efforts can eventually help resolve long-unsolved cases.
