Eagles star Saquon Barkley gives shock take on Super Bowl fans booing Taylor Swift

Saquon Barkley has joined the list of people coming to the defense of Taylor Swift after she was loudly booed inside the Caesars Superdome during the Super Bowl.

Swift was at the New Orleans championship game to support her Kanas City Chiefs boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who were playing Barkley’s Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Despite being from West Reading, Pennsylvania, about 60 miles outside of Philadelphia, Eagles fans mercilessly booed Swift due to her romance.

The Eagles defeated the Chiefs 40-22 to give Barkley his first career Super Bowl shortly after he got engaged to partner Anna Congdon.

While appearing on The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday, Barkley was asked whether Kelce could be next to propose to his partner.

‘I have no idea,’ Barkley said. ‘I will say this though. You know, I remember that they showed her on the jumbotron and she got booed. I don’t get it. I don’t get why she was getting hate there.’

‘She’s just there supporting her significant other and she’s made the game bigger. You know, we’re all about, in football…how can we expand the game and make it more, internationally and we’re traveling to Brazil and we’re traveling to Mexico.’

‘And, apparently we’re traveling to Australia soon, so we’re trying to expand the game and, you know, her being a part of it’s only helping that, so I don’t get the slack that she’s getting.’

Sports reporters Charissa Thompson and Erin Andrews condemned the boos earlier on Wednesday.

The purely tribalistic nature of the NFL led to Swift getting booed. There were likely fans of the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer booing her due to her not being in green.

The Chiefs had won 14 straight games with Swift in attendance before their Super Bowl defeat.

Now, Kelce has retreated into the offseason where a decision on his future is expected in the next few weeks.

Barkley is still in the prime of his career after winning a тιтle in his first season as an Eagle.
