When little Nuala was just nine months old, her parents noticed that one of her eyes looked red. At first, it seemed like something minor. But over time, her eye began to bulge, and her parents knew something was wrong. 💔

Doctors eventually discovered a rare tumor behind her left eye, diagnosed as alveolar soft-tissue sarcoma. Nuala was only ten months old. 🏥🙏

Surgeons first tried to remove the tumor while preserving her eye. But when cancer cells were found at the edge of the tissue, her family faced an incredibly difficult decision. To give Nuala the best chance of moving forward, they chose another surgery, and she lost her left eye shortly after her first birthday. ❤️‍🩹

Then came a new chapter. In January 2024, Nuala rang the hospital’s treatment bell — a beautiful milestone after her cancer treatment. ✨🔔

Doctors later used MRI and CT scans, along with pH๏τographs, to create a custom eye prosthesis without putting her through the traditional impression process. 🌈💗

By 20 months old, Nuala was back to discovering the world — attending nursery, learning to walk, and adapting to life with one eye.
