🖤🚨 PART 2: THE MAFIA BOSS DISCOVERED WHAT WAS HIDDEN IN HIS NECK… BUT HIS FIANCÉE’S SECRET WAS EVEN MORE TERRIFYING

Dante Moretti had faced death without blinking.

Yet as he stood outside Isabella Romano’s bedroom, staring at the message on his phone, he felt something he hadn’t experienced in years.

Fear.

Not fear of dying.

Fear that the people he trusted had turned his own mind against him.

He pushed open the bedroom door.

Isabella sat before her dressing table in a silk robe, calmly fastening a diamond bracelet. She looked up and smiled.

“Dante, darling. What’s wrong?”

He studied her face.

“Did you access my medical records before the bombing?”

Her fingers stopped.

Only for a second.

“Where did that question come from?”

“A five-year-old girl.”

Isabella laughed nervously. “You’re letting a child’s imagination frighten you?”

“Perhaps.” He stepped closer. “Then you won’t mind coming with me to see my doctor.”

Her smile disappeared.

“Tonight?”

“Now.”

For the first time since he had known her, Isabella looked genuinely afraid.

And Dante understood something chilling: she wasn’t worried about his health.

She was worried about what the doctor might discover.

Downstairs, Anna sat beside Sophie in the library, holding her daughter’s hand. Sophie had stopped drawing and was watching the doorway.

“Mommy,” she whispered, “is the man going to be okay?”

Anna kissed her forehead.

“I hope so, sweetheart.”

“But the other man looked angry when I found the bug.”

Anna’s heart тιԍнтened.

Before she could answer, a loud crash came from upstairs.

Then Dante’s voice thundered through the mansion.

“GET AWAY FROM ME!”

Anna jumped to her feet, pulling Sophie behind her.

Two guards rushed past the library.

Moments later, Dante appeared at the top of the staircase, one hand pressed against the back of his neck. His face was pale, and his breathing was uneven.

Isabella followed him.

“Dante, please listen to me. You’re confused. You know what happens when you get upset.”

He stopped halfway down the stairs.

“Don’t tell me what I know.”

His voice was quiet now, which somehow made it more frightening.

“My doctor examined the scans. He says the object in my neck was deliberately placed there. It isn’t ordinary shrapnel.”

Isabella’s eyes filled with tears.

“I was trying to protect you.”

“From what?”

She looked toward Victor Hale, who had just entered the foyer.

That single glance told Dante everything.

“You both knew,” he whispered.

Victor straightened his jacket.

“Dante, there are things you don’t remember for a reason.”

“Then help me remember.”

“Some memories would destroy you.”

Dante stepped toward him.

“Try me.”

Victor hesitated before delivering the words that shattered the room.

“Three years ago, you discovered that someone inside this family was planning to take control of your empire. You were going to expose them. The device was supposed to keep you stable while the investigation continued.”

“Stable?” Dante repeated. “I’ve been losing hours of my life!”

“It was never meant to last this long,” Isabella whispered.

Dante turned toward her.

“Who authorized it?”

Neither answered.

Then Sophie slipped away from Anna and approached the staircase.

“Mr. Moretti?”

Dante immediately crouched.

“What is it, sweetheart?”

She held up a small object she had found beneath the library sofa: a silver cuff link engraved with a tiny black crown.

Victor’s face changed.

Dante recognized the symbol.

It belonged to his older brother, Matteo, who had supposedly died in the explosion three years earlier.

Dante took the cuff link with trembling fingers.

“Where did you find this?”

“Under the sofa,” Sophie replied. “The man with the gray hair dropped it when he came to see you last night.”

Everyone turned toward Victor.

He said nothing.

Dante’s memories suddenly flashed—not a complete scene, but fragments. Rain against a windshield. His brother’s voice. A heated argument. A familiar hand reaching toward him just before the world went white.

Then came a sentence he could almost hear.

If you remember what happened that night, Dante, none of us will survive.

He staggered, gripping the banister.

Anna rushed forward, but Dante raised one hand to stop the guards from approaching him.

For three years, he had believed Matteo was ᴅᴇᴀᴅ.

For three years, he had blamed the explosion for everything he had lost.

Now he wasn’t certain that either belief was true.

He looked at Victor.

“Where is my brother?”

Victor’s silence stretched painfully.

Then Isabella began to cry.

“Dante, please. You have to understand. Matteo didn’t die that night.”

Dante’s eyes narrowed.

“Then where is he?”

Isabella covered her mouth.

“He’s been here. In this mansion.”

A door opened somewhere behind them.

Slow, deliberate footsteps sounded from the corridor leading to the private medical wing.

Every guard turned.

A man emerged from the shadows, his face thinner than Dante remembered, a faint scar crossing his temple.

But his eyes were unmistakable.

Matteo Moretti.

Alive.

Dante stared at his brother, unable to speak.

Matteo stopped a few feet away and looked at the silver cuff link in Dante’s hand.

Then he looked at Sophie.

His expression crumpled.

“Oh, God,” he whispered. “You found the child.”

Dante moved between Matteo and Sophie.

“What child?”

Matteo’s gaze lifted to his brother’s face.

“The one they were trying to keep you from remembering.”

He swallowed hard.

“Dante, that device in your neck wasn’t implanted to protect you from your memories.”

He stepped closer and lowered his voice.

“It was implanted because three years ago, you remembered who ordered the bombing—and you were about to discover what they did to your daughter.”

The mansion fell silent.

Dante looked at Sophie.

The little girl clutched Anna’s hand, unaware that her innocent discovery had reopened a mystery powerful people had tried to bury.

Then Matteo whispered the final words.

“Ask Anna why she came to work in this mansion. She didn’t find Sophie by accident.”

Anna went completely still.

Dante slowly turned toward her.

And the housekeeper who had spent three months trying to remain invisible suddenly looked like the only person in the room who knew how this story would end.
