💛 “One Big Brave Breath”: 2-Year-Old Remington Faces A Difficult Journey With Incredible Courage 🌈
At only 2 years old, Remington is facing a serious medical challenge — but her strength and determination have inspired everyone around her.
When Remington’s family first noticed that something was wrong, they believed it might be a common childhood illness. She had stomach discomfort and ongoing fevers, but her parents, Derrick and his family, felt that something was not right.
Their concerns were heard when Remington’s pediatrician ordered an ultrasound. That decision revealed a large tumor near her left adrenal gland and kidney, changing the course of the toddler’s life.
Because of the tumor’s size and its location near important blood vessels, doctors determined that immediate removal was not the safest option. Instead, Remington began a carefully planned treatment journey designed to give her the best possible chance.
Remington was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma and recently completed another round of chemotherapy at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Her family understands that the road ahead will be long. Doctors expect her treatment plan to continue for many months and may include additional chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, immunotherapy, and other specialized care.
While the diagnosis is serious, Remington’s family has shared some encouraging news. They say the cancer has not spread to her bone marrow or other parts of her body, and she does not have MYCN amplification, an important factor doctors consider when evaluating neuroblastoma.
Even with these positive signs, her treatment remains challenging because of the tumor’s size and location.
For Derrick, the hardest thought any parent can imagine is wondering whether treatment will be enough. But every day, Remington gives her family a reason to keep believing.
She faces hospital visits, procedures, scans, and treatments with a strength far beyond her young age.
Her family says Remington has taught them that courage does not mean being fearless. It means continuing forward even during difficult moments.
They describe her strength through the phrase “one Big Brave Breath” — a reminder that sometimes the next step begins with simply finding the courage to face the next moment.
Derrick also hopes other parents remember the importance of trusting their instincts. He believes that because their concerns were taken seriously, testing helped identify Remington’s condition and begin treatment sooner.
The family is not asking for financial support. Instead, they are asking for prayers, encouragement, and positive thoughts as they continue this journey.
They hope people will pray for Remington’s healing, strength for her siblings, wisdom for her doctors and nurses, and comfort for the entire family.
💛 Remington’s story is a reminder that even the smallest voices can show the greatest courage.
