Three-month-old Mohammad Al-Khatib was in his mother’s arms when a strike hit the tent where their family was sheltering in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza.

His mother was killed while breastfeeding him, while Mohammad suffered devastating injuries from the blast. 💔

Doctors in Gaza fought to save the tiny infant, performing multiple surgeries despite extremely difficult medical conditions. His left leg was so severely injured that surgeons had to amputate it below the knee.

Mohammad also suffered serious burns and extensive damage to his left hand. Medical teams have warned that the hand remains at risk, adding another heartbreaking uncertainty to his recovery.

His father, Suhail Al-Khatib, and other relatives have continued caring for him while appealing for specialized treatment outside Gaza.

Doctors and advocates say Mohammad urgently needs access to advanced reconstructive and limb-saving care—treatment that is extremely difficult to provide amid severe shortages of medical supplies, equipment and specialist services.

For his family, the hope is simple: to give this tiny boy every possible chance to heal and preserve as much of his remaining limb function as possible. 🙏💙
