💙🙏 “A Million Prayers” for Baby Brian Jr.: 5-Month-Old Texas Infant Fights for His Heart After Two-Hour Rescue Effort

For five-month-old Baby Brian Jr., the fight for his life began long before he ever entered the world.

His parents, Rhiannon and Brian, learned during pregnancy that their son had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, or HLHS, a serious congenital heart condition in which the left side of the heart does not develop normally.

Doctors explained that Brian’s heart would require a series of major procedures so that the right side could take on the work his body needed.

His parents chose to fight for their son.

And Brian has been fighting ever since. 💙

Born to a family originally from Sinton, Texas, Brian underwent a heart procedure on the day he was born. Just two days later, his parents watched their newborn being taken for his first major open-heart surgery.

The family eventually relocated to Houston so Brian could receive specialized medical care at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Since then, he has undergone another major heart surgery.

But this week brought the family’s most frightening moment yet.

According to his family, around 11:30 p.m. Monday, they received a devastating call: Brian had gone into cardiac arrest.

Doctors determined that a blood clot had formed in his right coronary artery, restricting blood flow to the right side of his heart.

Because Brian’s congenital heart condition means the right side of his heart carries an especially important role in maintaining circulation, the situation was extremely serious.

Medical teams immediately began working to restore his circulation.

For approximately two hours, doctors performed CPR on the five-month-old infant.

Two hours of relentless effort.

Two hours during which his family could only hope that their little boy would make it through.

Eventually, the medical team placed Brian on ECMO, a form of advanced life support that can temporarily ᴀssist the heart and lungs while doctors work to stabilize the patient.

He was then taken for further procedures, including cardiac catheterization.

Doctors were able to remove the clot.

Now, however, Brian’s family faces another difficult period: waiting.

They are praying that his heart function will recover enough for him to continue his journey without needing additional extraordinary measures.

If his heart does not regain sufficient strength, the family hopes he could potentially become a candidate for a heart transplant.

For now, every moment matters.

His mother remains hopeful.

“I know in my mama heart that he will pull through this!” she said.

Brian’s grandmother, JoAnna, has also been asking people to surround her grandson with prayers.

“My grandson Brian Jr is one of the strongest boys I know! Please continue to pray for him,” she shared.

The family’s request is simple.

They are asking for “a million prayers” for the tiny boy who has already endured more medical challenges in five months than most people could imagine.

They are praying that his heart becomes stronger.

They are praying that ECMO gives his body the time it needs.

They are praying for wisdom and steady hands for every doctor and nurse caring for him.

And they are praying for strength for Rhiannon and Brian as they remain beside their son during this critical chapter.

For his parents, Brian is not a medical diagnosis or a hospital patient.

He is their little boy.

The child they chose to fight for before he was even born.

The baby who has already shown remarkable strength through multiple procedures and surgeries.

And now, once again, his family is refusing to give up hope.

💙 Baby Brian Jr. is still fighting, and his family is asking everyone who sees his story to stand beside him with a prayer.

If you believe in the power of prayer, take a moment today to pray for Brian’s heart to recover, for his medical team to have wisdom and strength, and for his parents and loved ones to have courage through the days ahead.

🙏 One tiny heart. One determined family. A million prayers.
