When Kiara Duprey, then 24, and her partner Javier Floreniani learned during a 12-week pregnancy scan that their unborn daughter’s arms and legs were not developing as expected, they were faced with news no parent is ever prepared to hear. Doctors initially suspected Roberts syndrome, a rare genetic condition, and warned that the baby might not survive to full term. 💔

But Kiara chose to continue the pregnancy. She later explained that she believed her daughter’s life had a purpose and that being born differently did not make her life any less valuable. 🤍

Against the expectations they had been given, baby Arianna Floreniani was born by scheduled Caesarean section on July 28, 2023, weighing exactly 5 pounds (2.27 kg). 👶✨ She was later diagnosed with transverse limb deficiency, a condition in which the limbs develop in a shortened or incomplete form.

Arianna spent her first week in the hospital while doctors monitored a heart murmur before she was finally able to go home with her family. 🏥💗

By the time she was eight months old, Arianna was already surprising everyone around her.
