Maliki Perales was 11. His older brother, Dravyn Quiroz, was 20.

Authorities say the brothers were outside their family home in the San Antonio area when a neighbor suddenly opened fire. Maliki was critically injured and later pᴀssed away. Dravyn initially survived but succumbed to his injuries roughly 12 hours later.

Investigators say they found no apparent history of conflict between the families, leaving loved ones struggling to understand how such a devastating moment could happen.

Maliki was preparing to enter middle school. 📚 Dravyn had recently endured serious medical challenges, including pancreaтιтis and diabetic ketoacidosis, and had undergone surgeries in recent months.

Their father, Andrew Perales, described both sons as fighters.

“I raised them right. They had good morals. They had good values,” he said.

The accused neighbor, Daniel Antonio Perez, 40, was arrested shortly after the incident. He faces charges including capital murder and aggravated ᴀssault with a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly weapon. Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
