In 2026, reports emerged that British investigators working on Operation Grange had received additional material from German authorities concerning Christian Brückner, the man publicly identified by German authorities as a prime suspect.
Reports have described the material as potentially significant, but authorities have not publicly confirmed that the files contain a definitive breakthrough or evidence sufficient to charge Brückner in Madeleine’s disappearance.
Brückner has consistently denied involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance and has never been charged in connection with her case.
🕊️ THE SEARCH HAS NEVER FULLY ENDED
Madeleine disappeared on May 3, 2007, while on holiday with her family in Praia da Luz. Since then, British, Portuguese and German authorities have pursued numerous investigative leads.
A major search in Portugal in June 2025 examined areas near Praia da Luz, including scrubland and abandoned structures. Investigators collected material for examination, but no publicly announced discovery resolved the case.
