💔 She was only 21 months old. Instead of growing up surrounded by love and laughter, Caroline Ruth Boggs spent her final days fighting for her life.

According to investigators, Caroline was being cared for by 25-year-old Jesse Allen Sartin on July 24, 2024, while her mother was at work in Indiana.

Authorities say Sartin initially claimed the toddler had been injured in an accident involving a fall. However, medical specialists determined that Caroline’s devastating injuries were not consistent with that explanation.

She was rushed to the hospital before being airlifted to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where doctors performed emergency surgery in an effort to reduce severe swelling in her brain. Despite their efforts, Caroline pᴀssed away on August 1, 2024. The medical examiner later ruled her death a homicide caused by abusive head trauma.

During the investigation, Sartin admitted that he had shaken Caroline after becoming frustrated while trying to remove her from the bathtub. He later pleaded guilty to aggravated battery resulting in her death.

The court has now sentenced him to 35 years in prison.

Caroline’s heartbreaking death has become another painful reminder of the devastating consequences of child abuse and the importance of protecting children who depend entirely on the adults caring for them.
