💙 After Days of Pain, 15-Year-Old Will Roberts Gets a Glimmer of Hope

After days of pain, swelling and uncertainty, 15-year-old Will Roberts has finally received some encouraging news.

Doctors discovered that more than two liters of excess fluid had accumulated around Will’s lungs and in his abdomen, causing significant discomfort and adding another difficult challenge to an already exhausting medical journey.

Thankfully, doctors were able to safely remove the excess fluid.

Following the procedure, Will returned to his hospital room feeling more comfortable. For his family, that simple improvement brought a much-needed moment of relief after days filled with worry.

Will’s treatment journey has taken his family all the way to California, where they are pursuing an experimental treatment known as DeltaRex-G. After recovering from the procedure, Will received his second dose of the treatment, marking another important step in his ongoing fight.

Doctors are also planning to restart medication intended to help prevent more fluid from building up, while continuing to closely monitor his condition.

For a family living through such an uncertain time, progress does not always arrive in dramatic ways. Sometimes, it comes through a procedure going safely. Sometimes, it is another treatment completed. And sometimes, it is something as simple as seeing a child finally feel comfortable enough to enjoy a favorite treat.

For Will, that moment came in the form of an electrolyte popsicle.

It might seem like a small thing to someone on the outside. But after days of pain and everything this teenager has endured, being able to sit back and enjoy a popsicle represents something much bigger—a brief moment of normalcy, comfort and happiness.

His family is holding onto those moments and celebrating every small victory along the way.

There are still difficult days ahead, and Will’s journey is far from over. But each procedure, each treatment and each moment of comfort gives his loved ones another reason to keep hoping.

For now, they are taking the journey one day at a time.
