💔 HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE GONE FOR TWO DAYS. HIS MOTHER SPENT NEARLY A MONTH FIGHTING TO BRING HER SON HOME

Four-year-old Jhorden Clay was supposed to be away from his mother for only two days.

Instead, according to allegations in the case, those two days became nearly a month.

During that time, his mother, Jonicia, repeatedly tried to get her little boy back.

She says she saw injuries on Jhorden’s face during FaceTime calls.

She saved screensH๏τs.

She called police.

She contacted the Department of Human Services.

She went to court.

She kept asking for someone to intervene.

She was doing everything she believed she could do to protect her four-year-old son.

But Jhorden remained with his father, Marquavious Ware.

What happened next would leave a family devastated and raise painful questions about whether more could have been done while the child was still alive.

According to investigators, Ware became enraged after Jhorden reportedly wet the bed and hid Skittles in it. A child witness allegedly described seeing Ware kick and stomp on the four-year-old.

When relatives eventually located Jhorden, investigators reported disturbing signs inside the home.

Jhorden was suffering from severe injuries and became critically ill. He was taken to a hospital after experiencing a medical emergency.

He never returned home.

According to reported autopsy findings, the four-year-old had suffered extensive blunt-force trauma, a fractured chest wall, a liver injury and signs of strangulation. The report also documented severe malnutrition and dehydration, as well as burns, scars and bruising.

The details are difficult to comprehend because Jhorden was only four years old.

He was still a little boy.

Still young enough to need help with everyday things.

Still young enough to look to the adults around him for protection.

And according to his mother, there had already been signs that something was wrong.

That is what makes the case especially painful.

Jonicia says she was trying to get authorities to listen while her son was still alive.

And approximately one week before Jhorden’s pᴀssing, a judge denied his mother’s request for a restraining order.

In July 2026, Ware accepted a plea agreement and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
