For one Houston family, grief arrived twice — so quickly that there was barely time to understand the first loss before another tragedy struck.
Princella Ross, 65, was a mother of three, a grandmother of 10 and a beloved member of her Houston, Texas, community. To the people who knew her, she was far more than a name in a police report. She was a woman who cared deeply for her family and others around her.
On the night of August 29, 2026, that life was shattered.
According to investigators, multiple sH๏τs were fired in the area of Beran Drive, and Princella’s home was reportedly the only residence struck. She suffered a gunsH๏τ wound to her arm, but the seriousness of the injury was not immediately recognized.
Family members said Princella had diabetes and regularly experienced health problems connected to the condition. Because of that, the injury was initially believed to be related to her medical situation rather than a gunsH๏τ.
The following morning, a caregiver arrived at the home and found Princella unresponsive.
By then, investigators believe several hours had pá´€ssed since the shooting.
The mother and grandmother was gone.
Police opened a homicide investigation, seeking to determine who fired the sH๏τs and why Princella’s home was struck.
But before the family could even begin to process her pá´€ssing, another devastating loss followed.
Princella’s son, Robert Ross, affectionately known by family and friends as “Robbo,” “Trap” and “Top Kat,” was reportedly overwhelmed by the loss of his mother.
According to the account shared by those close to the family, Robert believed the g*nfire may have been intended for him — and that his mother may have been caught in something meant for her son.
That belief reportedly left him carrying tremendous emotional pain.
He was grieving the woman who had raised him while also struggling with the possibility that she may have suffered because someone was targeting him.
Then, just three days after Princella’s pᴀssing, another heartbreaking announcement came.
On September 2, 2026, Robert Ross also died.
The family that had just lost a mother was suddenly mourning her son as well.
In less than a week, two members of the same family were gone: a mother and the son who believed her loss may have been connected to him.
For relatives and friends, the circumstances remain difficult to comprehend. They are left with grief, unanswered questions and the painful task of saying goodbye twice.
Authorities continue working to understand what happened on Beran Drive and whether Princella was intentionally targeted or was caught in g*nfire intended for someone else.
