What began as an ordinary afternoon at home turned into a terrifying emergency in just seconds.

Two-year-old Daelyn Davis was nearby while his mother was preparing a roast in a crockpot plugged into an extension cord. When she briefly stepped into another room, curious little Daelyn reached for the cord.

The crockpot was pulled from its place, spilling its scalding contents onto the toddler. 💔

In an instant, Daelyn suffered severe third-degree burns and was rushed to the hospital. Because of the seriousness of his injuries, he was later airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where specialized burn doctors immediately began treating him. 🏥🙏

For his family, the helicopter ride marked the beginning of a long and difficult road.

Doctors explained that injuries this severe can require multiple surgeries, specialized wound care, pain management and months of rehabilitation. For a child so young, enduring repeated procedures can be especially challenging. 🥺❤️‍🩹

Earlier this week, Daelyn underwent his first surgery, which doctors expect may be the beginning of several procedures needed to repair damaged tissue and support his recovery.

But through every difficult moment, his family remains by his side.

They are holding onto hope and taking his recovery one day at a time. 💙🌈
