A desperate search for three-year-old Noah Woods in Brantham, Suffolk, has ended in heartbreaking circumstances after police recovered the body of a child from nearby Decoy Pond.

Noah was reported missing on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 15, after becoming separated from a relative during a visit to a playground on Merriam Close. Police said he ran down an alleyway beside the playground toward a nearby housing development and Decoy Pond.

🚨 A MᴀssIVE SEARCH OPERATION

What followed was an enormous community search.

Police officers, specialist search teams, firefighters, coastguards, ambulance crews, helicopters, search dogs and Metropolitan Police dive teams all joined the effort.

Around 1,300 members of the public also came to Brantham to help search for Noah. Volunteers travelled from the local area and beyond, while the village’s leisure centre became a central point for the search operation.

Police also released CCTV showing Noah’s last known movements at the playground as officers worked to establish where he had gone.

🕊️ THE SEARCH ENDS IN TRAGEDY

On Wednesday, September 16, specialist divers recovered the body of a child from Decoy Pond.

At the time, formal identification had not yet been completed, but Noah’s family had been informed.

On September 17, Suffolk Constabulary confirmed that the child had been formally identified as Noah Woods, aged three. Police said his d#ath was not being treated as suspicious, although several inquiries remained to be completed before a file would be submitted to the coroner.

💔 HIS FATHER’S HEARTBREAKING TRIBUTE

Noah’s father, Rhys Woods, later shared an emotional message remembering his son as the “sweetest and most innocent little boy.”

He thanked the emergency services and the hundreds of strangers who joined the search, saying the compᴀssion shown to his family had brought them comfort during an unimaginable time.

The family also asked for privacy as they grieve their loss.

💙 A COMMUNITY UNITED FOR NOAH

Tributes have appeared around the playground where Noah was last seen, including flowers, balloons, teddy bears and Bluey-themed items.

The response has continued beyond the search itself. A fundraising campaign established to support Noah’s family had raised more than £95,000 by September 19, while Ipswich Town players wore black armbands in his memory.

For more than 24 hours, hundreds of people searched with one hope — to bring Noah home safely.

Instead, the community was left mourning a little boy whose disappearance touched people across Suffolk and far beyond.

Noah will be remembered by the people who searched for him, the community that rallied around his family, and the many strangers who simply wanted to see him safely brought home.
