SMYRNA, DELAWARE — The tragic death of a 10-year-old girl has led to a major criminal investigation and shocked communities across Delaware as authorities work to uncover the full extent of what prosecutors describe as a prolonged pattern of abuse inside a family home.

The victim, Fatima Kone, died in late May 2026 after suffering severe injuries that investigators allege were inflicted during a violent incident involving members of her household.

According to the Delaware State Police and court records, the events began on May 27, 2026, following a dispute concerning a school-related expense. Prosecutors allege that the disagreement escalated into physical violence and that Fatima was ᴀssaulted inside the home.

The Office of the Medical Examiner later determined that the child died from multiple blunt-force injuries. Her death was officially ruled a homicide.
