💔🏍️ HE DROPPED HIS DAUGHTER OFF FOR SCHOOL, THEN STOPPED TO HELP A STRANGER — FLORIDA FATHER NEVER MADE IT HOME

APOPKA, FLORIDA — What began as an ordinary Tuesday morning for a Florida father ended in tragedy after authorities say he stopped to help a couple who appeared to be in distress along the roadside.

Daryl Alexander Hill, 56, had just dropped his 10-year-old daughter off at Wolf Lake Elementary School for her first day of school when he continued riding his motorcycle through Apopka.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Hill encountered 26-year-old Raul Vazquez and a woman involved in a heated dispute near a roadway.

Authorities say Vazquez and the woman had been arguing inside a pickup truck when their vehicle collided with a black SUV. The confrontation then moved outside the vehicle and continued along the roadside.

Hill stopped.

Investigators described him as a Good Samaritan who appeared to be attempting to help a woman he believed was in distress.

According to an arrest affidavit, a physical struggle subsequently developed involving Hill and the couple. The three eventually fell into a nearby area of bushes.

Hill then attempted to leave the confrontation.

Authorities allege that Vazquez returned to his vehicle, retrieved a firearm and sH๏τ Hill in the back as he was trying to get away.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud sound shortly afterward. One witness said Hill had reportedly yelled, “Help.”

Ryan Harper, who was driving his children to school at the time, told WKMG that he heard a loud bang before seeing someone in the roadway.

“It’s pretty traumatizing for us all,” Harper said.

Emergency responders rushed Hill to a nearby hospital, but his injuries were too severe. He was pronounced ᴅᴇᴀᴅ less than an hour after the incident.

While the tragedy unfolded, Hill’s wife of 17 years, Suzanne, was becoming increasingly concerned.

She noticed through cellphone location tracking that her husband’s phone had remained in the same location for an unusually long period of time.

When he failed to answer her calls, she went home to check on him.

Instead, she encountered a scene that immediately confirmed her worst fears.

“I didn’t see the scene, thank God, but I saw the detectives and confirmed my worst nightmare,” Suzanne told WESH.

Daryl leaves behind his wife, their young daughter and two adult children.

Suzanne described her husband as an exceptionally kind and generous person who cared deeply about everyone around him.

“He was just an incredible, kind, giving, caring, loving person to everybody,” she told Spectrum News.

“Friend, family and stranger: he cared for everybody and helped everybody and always stepped in.”

Those words have taken on painful significance following his death.

Daryl’s willingness to help others was not limited to strangers on the road. He was also active in his daughter’s school community and was known for being someone who was always ready to lend a hand.

Orange County Public Schools Superintendent Maria Vazquez remembered him as a “ray of sunshine” to his family and those around him.

She expressed sympathy for his loved ones, describing the sudden loss as extremely difficult for everyone who knew him.

Authorities arrested Raul Vazquez, who has been charged with second-degree murder. He remains in the Orange County Jail after his bond was revoked.

As the criminal case moves forward, Daryl’s family and friends are left remembering the man behind the headlines — a husband, father, friend and community member whose instinct was to help.

A GoFundMe has been established to support his wife, Suzy, and their young daughter.

The fundraiser describes Daryl as someone with a contagious personality, an incredible sense of humor and a remarkable ability to bring laughter and joy to those around him.

His final morning began like any other.

He took his daughter to school.

He went about his day.

Then he saw someone who appeared to need help — and he stopped.
