💔🌪️ 3-Year-Old Ava Ciampini Dies After Bounce House Is Lifted by Powerful Storm Winds at Montreal Fair
A Montreal community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 3-year-old Ava Ciampini, who died after a bounce house was lifted into the air during a severe thunderstorm at a local fair.
The tragic incident occurred on May 31 at Ouellette Park in Montreal’s LaSalle borough, where families had gathered to enjoy a community event filled with activities, entertainment, and children’s attractions.
What began as a joyful day quickly turned into chaos when a powerful storm moved through the area.
According to reports, severe weather brought hail and wind gusts estimated between 40 and 50 miles per hour. Witnesses described seeing tables, chairs, and other objects being blown across the fairgrounds as conditions rapidly deteriorated.
Among the attractions affected was a large inflatable bounce house occupied by children.
Rosella Peluzzo, who attended the fair, recalled the terrifying moment the inflatable structure was caught by the wind.
According to witnesses, the bounce house rose into the air before crashing back to the ground. Authorities believe it reached a height of approximately 12 feet during the incident.
The accident resulted in injuries to multiple people.
Officials reported that eleven individuals were hurt, including Ava’s father, Luca Ciampini.
Ava suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical teams worked desperately to save her life.
Despite their efforts, she later died from her injuries.
The Quebec Coroner’s Office subsequently confirmed her death.
The loss has devastated Ava’s family and touched countless people throughout the community.
Speaking after the tragedy, Luca Ciampini described the overwhelming grief his family has experienced.
“We’re heartbroken … it still doesn’t feel real,” he told local media. “We’re waiting for her to come back.”
Family members remembered Ava as a joyful and affectionate little girl who loved spending time with her younger brother. Her father said she often comforted him, making him laugh whenever he became upset.
Following the incident, Montreal police launched an investigation to determine exactly how the accident occurred.
Investigators are examining whether the bounce house had been properly secured and reviewing safety measures that were in place before severe weather arrived.
Officials are also evaluating weather conditions and event procedures as part of the investigation.
LaSalle Borough Mayor Nancy Blanchet expressed condolences to the family and acknowledged the deep impact the tragedy has had on the community.
As questions remain unanswered, many are remembering Ava not for the accident itself, but for the happiness, laughter, and love she brought into the lives of those around her.
