When Charlotte and James learned during a routine scan that their baby girl was missing the fibula bone in her right leg, they had no idea how much their journey would change. Their daughter, Willow, was diagnosed with fibular hemimelia, a rare condition that also left the bones in her right leg shorter. 💗

At 19 months old, Willow underwent a Syme procedure, which removed the front part of her foot while preserving the heel pad so she could later use a prosthetic more comfortably.

Willow received a custom-made prosthetic decorated with fabric from one of her favorite baby clothes. And when she tried it for the first time, she didn’t hesitate.

She stood up — and started walking. 👣✨
