🥺💙 HE WAS ONLY FIVE DAYS OLD WHEN HIS FAMILY HEARD THE WORD “CANCER” — BUT LITTLE LUKE KEPT FIGHTING 🌈🙏

For Grace and Riley Adkins, welcoming their first baby was supposed to be one of the happiest moments of their lives.

But shortly after little Luke was born, nurses noticed swelling and discoloration on his arm. Further testing revealed something no parent expects to hear: Luke had rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), a rare childhood cancer affecting soft tissue. 💔🏥

The diagnosis came when he was just five days old.

Thankfully, further tests showed that the cancer had not spread beyond his arm. Doctors initially considered removing the arm at the shoulder, but Luke’s parents wanted to explore every possible way to preserve as much of it as they could. 🙏

Luke began chemotherapy when he was only weeks old. His parents learned how to care for him at home, manage his medications and support him through the difficult effects of treatment.

And slowly, the scans brought encouraging news.

The tumor was shrinking. 💙✨

After several rounds of chemotherapy, Luke underwent surgery in April, with his arm amputated at the elbow. It was a heartbreaking step, but one that allowed doctors to move forward with his treatment.

Then came the news his family had been praying for:

Post-surgery testing showed no remaining cancer cells. 🥹🌈

Luke still had more treatment ahead, and his family continued taking every precaution to protect his vulnerable immune system. But whenever he felt well, his little personality began to shine through.

He smiled. He giggled. He simply enjoyed being a baby. 💗👶

His parents know life may bring challenges as Luke grows, but they don’t want him to think about what he cannot do.

They want him to grow up believing:

“It may be harder for me, but I’ll figure it out.” 💪💙

For now, Grace and Riley are taking life one day at a time — celebrating every smile, every happy moment and every sign that their little boy is healing.
