Wharton, Texas — A young Texas girl named Harmoni is inspiring prayers and support from people across the country as her family continues searching for hope during one of the most difficult journeys a parent can face.

Harmoni has been diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, commonly known as DIPG, a rare childhood brain condition that affects the brainstem — an area responsible for important functions involving movement, balance, swallowing, and breathing.

Because of the location where DIPG develops, treatment options remain extremely limited, and many families facing this diagnosis are forced to navigate an uncertain path filled with difficult decisions and emotional challenges.

After Harmoni’s diagnosis, her mother Selena immediately began searching for additional medical options. The family traveled to Seattle in hopes that specialists might have another approach, and they also reached out to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital seeking further guidance.
