An inquest into Chiedza’s death heard that the incident took place on May 25, 2026, during a Bank Holiday outing at Formby Beach near Liverpool.

Chiedza was playing volleyball with her cousins when the ball rolled into shallow water. She and her 11-year-old cousin entered the sea to retrieve it, but conditions quickly became dangerous as a powerful wave pulled them into deeper water.
