💔🕊️ “SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SAFE” — BABYSITTER SENTENCED AFTER DEATH OF 2-YEAR-OLD ALYSSA ROSE DAVIS SHOCKS COMMUNITY
The tragic death of 2-year-old Alyssa Rose Davis continues to leave a community grieving after authorities revealed disturbing details surrounding the toddler’s final days.
According to investigators, Alyssa had been left in the care of 44-year-old babysitter Phillissa Diallo for approximately two weeks in December 2022. What should have been a place of safety instead became the scene of a heartbreaking crime.
Police responded to Diallo’s apartment on Hearthstone Landing Drive on December 14, 2022, after she contacted authorities to report a child’s death. Upon arriving, investigators made a devastating discovery: Alyssa’s body had allegedly been hidden inside a plastic storage bin beneath other belongings in the apartment.
Medical examinations later confirmed that the child died from a fatal combination of acetaminophen and diphenhydramine — medications commonly found over the counter but dangerous in excessive amounts, especially for a small child.
Investigators determined Alyssa had last been seen alive on December 8. During the days that followed, authorities say Diallo repeatedly misled the child’s mother about Alyssa’s condition and whereabouts while continuing to conceal the tragedy.
Court records revealed further disturbing details during the investigation. Prosecutors stated that Diallo admitted leaving the toddler alone for extended periods and acknowledged that she failed to seek medical help even after noticing signs of distress. Authorities said she never called 911.
The case sparked widespread outrage and sorrow throughout the community, with many struggling to understand how such a young and vulnerable child could suffer such neglect.
Diallo was ultimately convicted and sentenced to 37 years in prison, including 21 years to be served for charges including second-degree murder, cruelty to children, and concealment of a death.
For those who knew Alyssa, the loss remains immeasurable. Friends, neighbors, and community members continue honoring her memory with tributes, flowers, and messages calling for stronger protections for children placed in the care of others.
While the legal case has concluded, the heartbreak surrounding Alyssa Rose Davis continues to resonate deeply — a painful reminder of a little girl whose life should have been protected, cherished, and allowed to grow. 💔🕊️
