💔🕊️ Mother and 11-Year-Old Daughter Found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ in Columbus Home as Estranged Husband Faces Charges

COLUMBUS, OHIO — A Columbus family is mourning the devastating loss of a 33-year-old mother and her 11-year-old daughter after both were found unresponsive inside their east-side home during a welfare check.

The victims were identified as Shalimar Green, 33, and her daughter, Aliv’eyah Chandler, 11. Authorities say the two suffered fatal injuries in what investigators are treating as a domestic-related homicide.

The Columbus Division of Police was called to a residence on the 2000 block of Chatsworth Way at approximately 7:15 p.m. Wednesday after relatives became concerned because they had not heard from Shalimar and her daughter.

Before officers were able to enter the residence, a family member reportedly forced their way inside and discovered the two victims.

Emergency medical personnel responded, but neither could be saved.

Investigators subsequently identified Derrick Green, 35, Shalimar’s estranged husband, as a suspect. According to authorities, Green had left the residence before police arrived, prompting officers to begin searching for him.

He was later located sleeping inside a red 2012 Dodge Challenger near the residence and was taken into custody by SWAT officers without further incident.

Court records indicate that investigators recovered evidence from the home and from the vehicle that they believe connects Green to the incident. Authorities also reported that a second vehicle ᴀssociated with Green was missing.

The investigation comes amid reports that Shalimar and Derrick Green had been experiencing ongoing relationship difficulties. The couple were reportedly in the process of separating, and court documents describe concerning interactions between them shortly before the tragedy.

According to those records, Shalimar had confronted Derrick one day before the incident after reportedly finding him asleep on a couch with a knife. She removed the object and questioned him about why he had it, an encounter that investigators are examining as part of the broader circumstances surrounding the case.

Derrick Green remains in custody and is facing m□rder charges in connection with the deaths of Shalimar and Aliv’eyah. His initial court appearance had not yet been scheduled in the latest information available.

For the family, however, legal proceedings cannot lessen the magnitude of the loss.

Relatives and community members remembered Shalimar as a devoted mother who worked hard to provide a loving and stable life for her daughter.

Aliv’eyah, just 11 years old, was described as bright, curious, energetic, and full of potential. Friends and family are now left grieving a child whose life should have included years of school, friendships, dreams, and milestones still ahead.

The tragedy has also renewed calls from domestic violence advocates for greater awareness of warning signs in relationships where threats, intimidation, or escalating conflict may be present.
