👶💗 THEY SHARED ONE BODY — THEN A TEAM OF DOCTORS GAVE THEM THE CHANCE TO GROW AS TWO SISTERS

When Maggie and Dom Altobelli learned during a 20-week ultrasound that they were expecting conjoined twins, their journey took an extraordinary turn. Their daughters, Addison and Lilianna, were joined at the chest and abdomen and shared vital structures, including part of their liver. 🥺

Born by planned C-section at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia on November 18, 2020, the girls spent their first months in intensive care. Doctors carefully studied their anatomy and prepared their tiny bodies for a surgery that would eventually give each girl her own life. 🏥✨

Then, on October 13, 2021, at just 10 months old, Addison and Lilianna entered the operating room.

More than two dozen specialists worked together through a surgery that lasted about 10 hours. At 2:38 p.m., the sisters were finally separated. ❤️

The medical team then worked to rebuild each girl’s chest and abdomen, using carefully prepared tissue to help close their bodies.

By December, the two sisters were back home in Chicago — each with one parent by her side. And years later, they were seen running, talking, and even becoming big sisters themselves. 🌷👧👧
