🎗️ SHE LOST SIX STONE BEFORE DOCTORS FOUND THE CANCER — NOW SHE IS USING HER VOICE TO HELP OTHER YOUNG PEOPLE
For months, she knew something was wrong.
Her health had begun changing toward the end of 2021. She was becoming unwell more frequently, losing weight without trying and experiencing extreme tiredness. Yet repeated blood tests appeared to point toward a folic acid deficiency, and she continued taking the supplements prescribed to her.
She tried to believe there was a straightforward explanation.
But her symptoms did not disappear.
Instead, they became increasingly difficult to ignore.
By July 2022, she had lost approximately six stone and weighed around seven stone. She was exhausted almost constantly and was also being sick every day without knowing why.
Worried by how dramatically her body had changed, she returned to her GP.
What happened next would stay with her.
She was told that she looked healthy and that there appeared to be nothing seriously wrong.
For someone who knew how different she felt inside, those words were deeply discouraging.
Over time, being repeatedly reᴀssured that everything was fine began to affect her confidence in her own judgment. She knew her weight loss had not been intentional. She knew that feeling extremely weak and being sick every day were not normal for her.
But when professionals repeatedly told her otherwise, she began questioning herself.
That doubt became especially significant when a physical warning sign eventually appeared.
In December 2022, a lump developed underneath her arm.
This time, her concerns were taken seriously.
She was referred for an ultrasound in January 2023, where doctors performed biopsies. Lymphoma was considered the most likely explanation, but the diagnostic process was complicated by another setback.
When the expected biopsy results did not arrive, she contacted the hospital herself. She was then informed that the samples could not be used because of a processing error and that the procedure would need to be repeated.
Finally, on January 30, 2023, she received the diagnosis.
She had high-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma, an aggressive form of cancer affecting the lymphatic system. 🎗️
The news was frightening.
But surprisingly, she also felt relief.
After months of knowing that something was wrong while being told she appeared healthy, having a diagnosis finally confirmed that her symptoms had been real.
She had not imagined what was happening to her body.
She finally had an explanation.
Treatment began on March 10, 2023, with a plan for six rounds of chemotherapy. Before starting, one of her biggest fears was losing her hair — something many young cancer patients worry about because appearance can feel closely connected to idenтιтy and normal life.
Once treatment began, however, her priorities quickly changed.
The nausea and sickness became one of the most difficult parts of the experience.
She describes the symptoms as debilitating, affecting not only her physical health but also her emotional wellbeing. Even afterward, memories of being constantly sick continued to affect her.
Yet her experience has given her a purpose beyond her own recovery.
She is now using her voice to raise awareness and encourage other young people to listen to their bodies.
Her story is a reminder that serious illness does not always look obvious from the outside. Someone can appear healthy while experiencing symptoms that are profoundly affecting their life.
And perhaps one of the most important lessons she wants others to remember is simple:
❤️ If something doesn’t feel right, don’t be afraid to speak up. Ask questions. Seek another opinion if necessary. And don’t let anyone make you believe that your own experience isn’t real.
Her journey began with uncertainty, fear and unanswered questions.
Today, she is turning that experience into a message of awareness, courage and hope for others facing their own unexplained symptoms. 🎗️❤️
