🥺💙👶 THEY WERE TOLD OWEN MIGHT NOT SURVIVE — BUT HE JUST CELEBRATED HIS FIRST BIRTHDAY AT HOME 🌈✨
When Owen Masterson was still in his mother’s womb, doctors discovered something was very wrong.

At 24 weeks, specialists became concerned that his brain might not be adequately protected. By 27 weeks, his parents, Tom and Jessica, learned that their son had acalvaria, an extremely rare condition in which parts of the skull fail to develop normally. 💔

They were told Owen might not survive the pregnancy, and even if he did, surviving birth could be incredibly difficult.

But his parents refused to give up hope. 🙏💙

🥺🌷 THEN CAME THE DAY THEY HAD FEARED
When Jessica went into labor on September 17, Owen was born just two hours later.

And then they heard something they had been praying for:

their baby was crying. 🥹💗

A specialist team had prepared carefully for his birth because they feared the stress of delivery could be too much for his developing brain.

But Owen surprised everyone.

Just a day and a half later, he was able to go home with his parents.

🌈💙 ONE YEAR LATER…
Owen has now celebrated his first birthday at home — a milestone his parents once feared they might never see.

His first year hasn’t been completely without challenges. He has had an ear infection and a stomach virus, and he is not yet able to crawl or roll over like other babies his age.

He is now being fitted with specialized equipment to help him move around. ✨

Doctors still don’t know what the future holds for Owen.

But for today, he is here.

He is growing.

And he is surrounded by a family who loves him exactly as he is. 💙🌷

Sometimes, the greatest miracles aren’t about knowing what tomorrow will bring. They’re simply about being grateful for today. Happy first birthday, little Owen. 🥺🎂🌈🙏
