When doctors discovered during pregnancy that baby Leo Alexander had Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as brittle bone disease, his family was warned to prepare for the worst. 👶💔

Doctors believed Leo had the most severe form, Type 2 OI, and feared he might not survive the pregnancy or could have only a very short life after birth. The family was even told that ending the pregnancy might be the kinder choice. 😢

But Leo’s parents couldn’t stop loving him or hoping for him. ❤️🙏

For four months, they lived between fear and hope. They prepared for every possibility — even making funeral plans — while still holding onto the possibility that their little boy might surprise everyone. 🥺💙

Then, on January 11, everything changed.

At 11:10 a.m., weighing just 5 pounds 11 ounces, Leo was born crying, breathing and very much alive. 👶✨

The doctors had been wrong.

Leo did have an extremely fragile skeletal condition, meaning his family had to be incredibly careful with his movements and daily care. But from the very beginning, he showed a strength that amazed everyone around him. 💪💙

Doctors had expected him to spend three to six months in the NICU.

Instead, Leo spent just 19 days at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital before finally going home with his family. 🏥🏡✨

The months that followed weren’t always easy. There were frightening moments, uncertainty and plenty of emotional ups and downs. But there were also smiles, laughter and countless precious memories. 🌈🥰

His family describes Leo as an “amazingly happy spirit” who has touched and inspired everyone around him. 💙

And six months after doctors feared he might never make it into the world, Leo was still there — smiling, growing and writing his own story. 🥹✨

His family knows that living with OI will bring challenges, but they no longer measure his future by the predictions they once heard.

Instead, they cherish his life one precious day at a time. 🙏❤️
