When Brianna Worthy first held her newborn daughter MilliAnna, she noticed something that instantly filled her with joy.

There, at the front of her baby girl’s hair, was a distinctive white streak — just like the one Brianna had been born with. 🤍

MilliAnna became the fourth generation of women in her family to carry the striking feature.

The same white patch appears in the hair of her mother Brianna, 23, her grandmother Jennifer, 41, and her great-grandmother Jaonne, 59.

The feature is known as poliosis, a localized absence of pigment in the hair that can create a naturally white or gray patch. It can sometimes be inherited and may be present from birth.

In this family, the unique trait has been pᴀssed down through the maternal line for at least four generations.

Because Brianna’s grandmother was adopted, the family doesn’t know exactly how far back the tradition goes. But they do know that it has created a remarkable connection between the women in their family.

Brianna had always hoped her daughter would inherit the distinctive streak.

Her younger sister did not have it, so she wasn’t sure whether MilliAnna would be born with the same feature.
