Nearly seven months after 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Arizona home, investigators still have not publicly named a suspect or announced a breakthrough in the case.

One of the biggest unanswered clues remains the masked man captured on Nancy’s doorbell camera around the time she vanished. The footage has become one of the most closely watched pieces of evidence in the investigation, but the person seen in it has not been publicly identified. As of September 1, authorities said the investigation remained active, with no suspect named.

Then, on August 17, authorities responded to reports of human rem*ins discovered in a desert area near West Ajo Way and South La Cholla Boulevard — roughly 15 miles from Nancy’s home.

The location immediately caught public attention because of the ongoing search for Nancy. But investigators quickly made an important distinction: the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said there was no indication at that time that the rem*ins were connected to Nancy’s disappearance. Officials also said they appeared to have been at the location for an extended period.

Nancy disappeared on February 1, and investigators have continued examining evidence from her home, including DNA, while the FBI and local authorities have pursued additional leads.
