Just over two months ago, Eveline’s family faced the unimaginable uncertainty of whether she would survive a devastating rollover crash. Today, they are celebrating milestones that once seemed almost impossible, as the 26-year-old continues making encouraging progress on her long road to recovery.

Eveline, from the Rio Grande Valley, suffered life-threatening injuries after crashing her vehicle while reportedly attempting to avoid an animal on the road. According to her family, her iPhone’s automatic crash detection feature contacted emergency services after the accident, allowing first responders to locate her unconscious in a nearby field.

She sustained a traumatic brain injury, a fractured neck, significant head injuries, damage to her liver and kidneys, and serious trauma to one of her eyes. During the early days following the crash, her loved ones could do little more than wait, hope, and pray.

Now, 65 days later, the family is witnessing encouraging signs of recovery.

Eveline has been transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation hospital, where she participates in intensive therapy each day. Her mother shared that the beginning of rehabilitation was incredibly challenging, with therapy sessions often causing significant discomfort as Eveline’s body adjusted to the demanding recovery process.

Despite those difficult moments, steady progress has begun to emerge.

According to her family, Eveline is spending more time awake, moving more comfortably in bed, and becoming increasingly aware of her surroundings. One particularly meaningful milestone came when her mother noticed Eveline intentionally reaching toward the controls on her hospital bed and carefully using a single finger to press the ʙuттons.

For many people, that simple action might seem insignificant. For someone recovering from a severe traumatic brain injury, however, it represents remarkable neurological progress and renewed hope.

The family also recently shared another major milestone: Eveline has been decannulated, meaning she no longer requires the tracheostomy tube that previously ᴀssisted her breathing. The achievement marks another important step in her ongoing recovery.

Although the progress has been encouraging, Eveline’s journey is far from over. Her family acknowledges that extensive rehabilitation remains ahead, and they are uncertain how long insurance coverage will allow her to continue receiving inpatient therapy.
