A Mᴀssachusetts courtroom heard disturbing new testimony this week in the trial of Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of killing her three young children in January 2023. 💔

Forensic psychiatrist Dr. Avram Mack testified about the events surrounding the deaths of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months. According to testimony reported by The Sun, Clancy reportedly said “Go to God” while strangling Dawson — words she allegedly also said to her other children. 😔

Clancy has pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder. Her defense does not dispute that she killed her children, but argues that she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and other serious mental-health problems and therefore should not be held criminally responsible. 🧠💔

Defense psychiatrist Dr. Phillip Resnick testified that Clancy was experiencing psychosis and command hallucinations, including a male voice that allegedly told her to kill her children and then herself. He argued that her mental illness severely impaired her ability to understand the wrongfulness of her actions.

Prosecutors, however, have presented a very different picture. They have pointed to her actions before and during the killings, as well as internet searches and other evidence, arguing that she understood what she was doing and should be held legally responsible.

Another defense expert, psychologist Paul Zeizel, testified that Clancy suffered from bipolar disorder and postpartum psychosis and was not criminally responsible for the children’s deaths. Prosecutors challenged his conclusions and questioned inconsistencies in Clancy’s behavior and medical history.

The trial has become a battle over one devastating question:
