Zachary and Katherine Barton, an Arlington couple both 39 years old, were killed in a tragic five-vehicle collision on State Highway 171 north of Hillsboro, Texas.

According to authorities, the chain of events began when a Ford Fiesta struck farm equipment being towed by a tractor. The impact sent debris into the roadway, creating a dangerous sequence that involved several vehicles.

At some point during the crash, Zachary and Katherine had exited their Ford F-150.

They were then struck by another vehicle.

Both suffered fatal injuries.

The tragedy also left others seriously hurt. Authorities said a 12-year-old pᴀssenger and the driver of the Ford Fiesta were critically injured.
