Little Teddy, from Griffithstown, was a happy, energetic little boy who loved exploring the world around him. But almost overnight, everything began to change.

His parents noticed he was no longer eating well and struggled with everyday activities that had once come so naturally. Concerned, they sought medical advice, hoping it was only a minor childhood illness.

Initially, doctors believed Teddy’s symptoms were related to a common digestive problem. But his mum, Sarah, couldn’t shake the feeling that something far more serious was wrong.

While gently mᴀssaging Teddy’s tummy to comfort him, Sarah felt a lump that immediately worried her.

At first, she was reᴀssured it might simply be a buildup of stool. However, further scans revealed a heartbreaking reality. Teddy had stage 4 neuroblastoma—a rare childhood cancer that develops from immature nerve cells and primarily affects young children.

In an instant, the family’s world was turned upside down.

Sarah later described hearing the diagnosis as “earth-shattering,” saying nothing could have prepared them to hear the word “cancer” connected to their young son.

Doctors discovered that the tumor had grown throughout much of Teddy’s abdomen, placing pressure on his organs and spreading to his bone marrow.

From that moment, ordinary family life was replaced by hospital stays, medical appointments, and an exhausting battle to give Teddy the brightest future possible.

The courageous little boy began intensive treatment, including chemotherapy, major surgery, and difficult rounds of immunotherapy. Through every challenge, his family says Teddy has continued to amaze everyone with his resilience, bright smile, and fighting spirit.

Today, Teddy faces another important step in his journey.

His family hopes to secure access to a specialized maintenance medication known as DFMO, which they believe could help reduce the risk of the cancer returning. Unfortunately, the treatment is not available through their current healthcare pathway, and obtaining it privately is estimated to cost around £250,000.

Although the financial challenge is overwhelming, Sarah says they are determined to explore every possible option that could give Teddy the best chance for a healthy future.

The family’s fundraising campaign has already inspired an incredible wave of compᴀssion, with thousands of supporters rallying behind the cheerful little boy lovingly described as a true “social ʙuттerfly.”
