Young Boy Found Alive Six Days After Venezuela Earthquakes

Hope emerged from the devastation in Venezuela as a young child was rescued alive from the rubble six days after two powerful earthquakes struck the country.

The boy, identified as Klieber Moran, was pulled from the collapsed Los Corales Garden 1 apartment building in La Guaira during an early morning rescue operation. Venezuelan officials said he was the only survivor found on the sixth day of search efforts.

Authorities reported that international rescue teams, including specialists from Jordan, helped locate and rescue the child. While officials differed on whether Klieber is two or three years old, they confirmed he was taken to a medical center in Caracas for treatment.

Following the rescue, government leaders expressed hope that more survivors could still be found beneath the debris, despite the growing challenges facing rescue crews.

As search operations continue, humanitarian aid has begun arriving in the country. UNICEF delivered 47 metric tons of emergency supplies, including medical kits for newborn care, safe childbirth, disease prevention, and urgent healthcare to support affected children and families.

The earthquakes, measuring magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 just moments apart, caused widespread destruction across Venezuela. Officials say more than 1,900 people have lost their lives and over 10,000 have been injured, though experts believe the true toll may be even higher as recovery efforts continue.

With nearly 59,000 buildings damaged or destroyed, hundreds of thousands of people have been affected. UNICEF estimates that around 680,000 children now require humanitarian ᴀssistance as communities work to recover from one of the country’s most devastating natural disasters.
