WADE WILSON CASE UPDATE: THE “ᴅᴇᴀᴅPOOL KILLER” FACES ANOTHER LEGAL TURN AS APPEALS CONTINUE

Wade Wilson, the Florida man widely known online as the “ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool Killer,” remains on d#ath row as his legal battle continues following his 2024 sentencing.
Wilson was convicted in Lee County of the 2019 k#llings of Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz and received two d#ath sentences in August 2024. His convictions and sentences have since remained the subject of continuing appeals.

A major development came in February 2026, when Wilson’s attorney appeared before the Florida Supreme Court to challenge the consтιтutionality of the state’s newer capital-sentencing law. The defense argued that Wilson’s d#ath sentences should not stand because the jury recommendations were not unanimous.
The argument was unusually brief. Wilson’s attorney acknowledged that recent Florida Supreme Court decisions had already rejected the central legal arguments being raised in his appeal. Rather than abandoning the issue entirely, however, the defense indicated that the consтιтutional questions could be preserved for possible review by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Wilson’s case involves Florida’s 2023 changes to capital sentencing. His jury recommended a d#ath sentence by votes of 9–3 for one victim and 10–2 for the other. The defense has argued that applying the newer law to Wilson’s case raises consтιтutional concerns.
For now, Wilson remains incarcerated on Florida’s d#ath row. Reports published in 2026 have indicated that no execution date had been set, meaning the case remains in the appeals process rather than at an immediate execution stage.
The case has also attracted substantial attention beyond the courtroom, particularly online. But the legal proceedings remain focused on consтιтutional and appellate questions rather than the social-media attention surrounding Wilson.
As his attorneys continue considering further review, the next major question is whether the remaining consтιтutional claims will ultimately reach the U.S. Supreme Court.
For now, the final chapter of the case has not been written. Wilson remains on d#ath row while the legal process continues.
