WADE WILSON CASE TAKES A QUIET TURN — HIS LEGAL BATTLE CONTINUES AS APPEAL REMAINS ACTIVE
A significant but relatively quiet development has emerged in Wade Wilson’s Florida case as his legal battle continues through the appellate courts.
Wilson was convicted in 2024 of two first-degree mu#der counts stemming from the 2019 k#llings of Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz in Cape Coral. He was sentenced to d#ath in August 2024 and remains on Florida’s d#ath row.
THE APPEAL REMAINS A KEY PART OF THE CASE
Wilson’s mandatory direct appeal was argued before the Florida Supreme Court on February 5, 2026. His attorneys have challenged aspects of his d#ath sentences, including issues surrounding Florida’s capital-sentencing system.
The appeal is especially significant because Florida changed its law in 2023 to allow a jury recommendation of at least 8–4 for a d#ath sentence. Wilson’s attorneys have raised consтιтutional arguments connected to that system, although the Florida Supreme Court had already rejected similar challenges in other cases.
NO EXECUTION DATE HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED
Despite the d#ath sentences imposed in 2024, Wilson does not currently have a publicly announced exec#tion date. His case remains within the legal-review process, meaning the sentence remains in place while further appellate proceedings continue.
Recent online claims suggesting that a new ruling has already resulted in an exec#tion date or ended Wilson’s appeals are not supported by the latest information available from the courts.
For now, the central development is not a new sentencing decision, but the continuation of the legal process surrounding Wilson’s existing convictions and d#ath sentences.
