South Carolina Mother Charged After Two Young Children Are Seriously Injured in Alleged Attack

A 35-year-old South Carolina mother, Taylor Gosnell, is facing two counts of attempted mu#der after authorities say her two young children were seriously injured at a home in Spartanburg County.

Deputies responded to the residence on Bud Arthur Bridge Road shortly after 2:30 p.m. on September 26, 2026, following a welfare check. They found the children, ages 3 and 6, alone and suffering from serious injuries. Authorities said the children were taken to the hospital and later placed in protective custody. Both were reported to be stable and expected to recover.

Investigators allege that the children were attacked during the night before deputies arrived. Authorities said the siblings suffered approximately 50 injuries between them. Because the injuries were severe, the older child may require additional surgery, with reports indicating that doctors are considering whether amputation could eventually be necessary.

The case came to light after the older child contacted a grandmother, who went to the home and alerted emergency services. Deputies said Gosnell later returned while officers were investigating. She was taken for a mental-health evaluation after authorities observed her distressed behavior, according to officials.

A judge denied Gosnell bond, and she remains in custody while the investigation continues. Her next court appearance is scheduled for November 12, according to reporting on the case. Authorities have also said the investigation remains active.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and Gosnell is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
