Russia’s energy sector has been hit by another major shock after Ukrainian drone strikes reportedly forced one of the country’s largest oil refineries to suspend operations.

The Lukoil-owned Perm refinery, a key fuel-processing facility deep inside Russia, was reportedly struck in a series of precision drone attacks that damaged major crude-processing units and disrupted part of the plant’s secondary operations.

Repairs may take weeks, while the shutdown threatens fuel production at a time when Moscow is already under pressure from war costs, sanctions, and repeated strikes on energy infrastructure.

The refinery handled millions of tons of oil last year, supplying gasoline and diesel for civilian use — and potentially for military logistics.

A follow-up strike reportedly targeted the same area and a critical oil pumping station, adding even more strain to Russia’s fuel network.

For Moscow, the message is clear:
